Which I shouldn't use as an excuse to not finish my research work. I feel it needs to be done in the coming months.

Although I haven't been able to submit my PhD yet, what I did learn over the past 9 years is the sheer relativity of everything.

Tomorrow my daughter turns 9.
I started my PhD before she was born.
I want to scream.

Just found out there's a demoparty happening in Brussels yesterday and today ... in case anyone reads this, is there some public part still happening today?

Been enjoying the recent Power of Ten episode featuring @changeist - there's a lot of good stuff being said. I primarily like the idea of 'understanding through narrative' and the reflections made on user centered design.

My 6 y/o daughter revived my partner's childhood tamagotchi. It's interesting to relive this thing from the parent perspective, I must say ... although I'm not really sure what I think about it yet.

@bleeptrack a very recognisable feeling - on the bright side, you can regard it as a recognition of your own work and thinking.
I like to point out to these things in discussion sections "so, I did all this ... but there are these other people who've done it as well - which basically is confirmation of what I'm doing"-kind of style.

I've been poking at Scuttlebut a little bit over the past few days, very interesting take on a social system. I'm intruiged by the way it manages to distinguish between people on the same network versus through a 'server'. It does make the whole interaction feel a lot more humane, even though I'm just testing with one other person.

Started chipping at @waag founder Marleen Stikkers book in which she tells the alternative history of the internet. Although I knew most bits and pieces, the storytelling is very much on point. Book is Dutch only, but worth checking out! singeluitgeverijen.nl/de-geus/

The @privacyint talk is, so far, one of my favourites. Also very much liked the reply to the question about whether it would be more secure to just keep track with pen and paper. mastodon.xyz/@privacyint/10339

I've been postponing an extended listening session of Alessandro Cortini's latest album for a while. I'm finally diving in now and ... *gasp* so good. open.spotify.com/album/0eQcXzL

Musicwise, this has been my guilty pleasure the past days of winter hibernation youtu.be/1hlESQ97mkc

Still on the repair list : 1 split keyboard pcb

This holiday I repaired 2 apple phones, 1 huawei phone and 1 usb disk enclosure.

At the short talk on IKEA lamps by @th was most definitely one of my favourites. youtu.be/bB3ZZqQZ3b0
